Matching Gazan scholars with scholars abroad to amplify Palestinian research and stand against scholasticide

Preserve, amplify, resist.

The Gaza Knowledge Project (GKP) is a peer-to-peer academic solidarity network of Gazan-based and international scholars committed to preserving, nurturing, and advancing Palestinian research and academic freedom. Our work stems from the belief that knowledge production is a form of resistance. We believe that research can be a lifeline for keeping histories alive, amplifying voices that have been silenced, and building relationships across borders that defy isolation and repression.

The project is run by Educationalists for Palestine (E4P), an 80-person network of education scholars and practitioners across the UK and beyond. E4P is made possible through support from the British Association of Comparative and International Education, the University of Bristol and the University of Sussex.

Mutual aid, learning and enrichment

GKP is not a traditional academic program. We are not an institutional initiative, nor do we offer certificates or funding. Instead, we are a volunteer community grounded in mutual aid, learning and enrichment. We see solidarity as a non-hierarchical practice that is built slowly through trust, listening, exchange, and shared purpose.

To this aim, GKP will pair Gazan scholars with scholars abroad who share overlapping research interests. Based on each Gazan scholar’s specific priorities, needs and plans, these pairings will work together towards achieving the Gazan colleague’s goals. Examples of this working partnership may include:

  • co-writing and editing papers or blogs;
  • preparing Gazan colleagues’ grant, job or conference applications;
  • exploring avenues for dissemination of Gazan-led research (blogs, podcast, op-eds, etc);
  • other activities in line with Gazan scholars’ individual priorities and aims

While each pair will determine the style and direction of their work together, we ask that all participants contribute some time to the project on a weekly basis for an initial period of six months. Our hope is to build and maintain informal networks and relationships that preserve and amplify the dignity, expertise, and intellectual freedom of Gazan scholars.

Supporting early and mid-career scholars

GKP is open to Gazan scholars who are in the first 10 years of their academic career, including those in the final year of their PhD program. Please note that the programme is not open to Master’s or undergraduate students at this time. Graduate students looking for similar opportunities may wish to consider applying for the Rifqa programme with our colleagues at Act for Pal.

Please note that our first round will focus on Gazan scholars who are proficient in English. We hope to begin pairing scholars to work in Arabic at a later stage.

Now accepting applications from Gazan scholars

Our call for participants is now open and will take place in two stages. The first stage is for Gazan colleagues, who may apply here by 13 April 2026.

The second stage will be for UK- and foreign-based colleagues, opening in mid-April. Until then, you may register your interest to participate by emailing us at e4pnetwork@gmail.com

We want to hear from you.
